3,500 Local Hospital Workers Vote to Strike

About 3,500 members of the Service Employees International Union Healthcare Minnesota voted overwhelmingly Tuesday to strike.  After two days of voting, 91 percent supported the strike option.

If the union calls a 2-5 day strike it would affect:

-Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina
-Fairview Riverside Hospital in Minneapolis

Washington County Renews Membership with Greater MSP

Washington County commissioners renewed a membership with Greater MSP, a regional economic development partnership.

The development is part of the Itasca Project, which is comprised of leaders representing more than 50 businesses, public sector agencies, and academic and charitable organizations.

Valleyfair Prepares for Opening Day May 12

A national ride inspector will be out at Valleyfair April 30-May 2 checking out all the rides and making sure they are safe for operation before opening day May 12.  Park officials are also conducting test runs on all the rides.

Washington County Agrees to Sell Coca-Cola Exclusively in Parks

Washington County residents won’t be seeing Pepsi products in parks anytime soon.

The Board of Commissioners renewed an agreement to sell Coca-Cola Refreshments exclusively in parks. The agreement allows the county to get reduced pricing for the beverages.

Volunteers Needed for East Ridge High School Career Day

Sophomores will listen to guest speakers and attend off-site college visits as part of a field day organized by the College and Career Readiness team.
