Park High School Band Celebrates Retirement of Peter Bergman

Park High School community members are invited to a retirement party in honor of band director Peter Bergman.

The retirement party is hosted in conjunction with the band’s awards banquet. It includes a dinner and social hour.

Housely Named to Washington Co. Historic Courthouse Advisory Council

The Washington County Board of Commissioners appointed Karin Housely of St. Mary's Point to the county’s Historic Courthouse Advisory Council yesterday.

The council is in charge of reviewing current operations and long-range plans for the courthouse building use and restoration.

Housley will serve until Dec. 31, 2012.

Missing Hugo Woman Found Safe in St. Paul

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said a missing Hugo woman has been found safe in St. Paul.

Fifty-nine-year-old Gayle Shirlene Newton was reportedly dropped off in downtown St. Paul by a taxi, but her family said she has no friends or acquaintances in that area. The sheriff’s office said the family has reason to believe Newton is paranoid and has an unknown emotional status.

Linda Reber Joins WorkForce Investment Board

The Washington County WorkForce Investment Board is welcoming a new member.

Linda Reber from Manpower was appointed to the board as a small business representative. She will serve on the board until June 30, 2014.

The board is made up of area residents who oversee employment and training programs in the county.
 

Washington County Commissioner Named Chair of MCIT

A Washington County commissioner was unanimously named chair of the Minnesota Counties Intergovernmental Trust.

Dennis Hegberg will serve as chair of the Board of Directors for the seventh time. He also serves on the MCIT Claims Committee and MCIT Personnel Committee.

Washington County Board Names Jan. 26 'James R. Schug Day'

In honor of longtime County Administrator Jim Schug, the Washington County Board of Commissioners named Jan. 26 “County Administrator James R. Schug Day.”

Schug will be retiring Jan. 26 after serving as the administrator for 17 years. The day is meant to honor Schug’s accomplishments and commitment throughout his time on staff.

East Ridge High School in Woodbury Chooses AAA Award Nominees

Seniors Jayden Cline and Julia Reimann are the East Ridge High School’s nominees for the 2011-12 AAA Awards.

The AAA Awards recognize students who excel in academics, arts and athletics. The program is sponsored by the Minnesota State High School League. Each member school of the league nominates one boy and one girl for the award.
