Woodbury kids handed in their own allowance money to help save a class pet.

“Bear” the guinea pig was living in a classroom at the Math and Science Academy in Woodbury when he developed a massive tumor.

The students decided to host a fundraiser to pay for Bear’s surgical bills. Some event donated their own money.

They're honoring teachers in a "Back to School" salute at the Golden Valley-based Animal Humane Society.

The nonprofit says it's saying "thank you" to the many men and women who have made a difference in our lives by naming their orphan pets after them.

Dozens of officers and their canine partners are in action Monday, demonstrating their unique skills. Woodbury is hosting the US Police Canine Trials for officers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota.

The two day exhibition features events all around the metro. The dogs will demonstrate their skills in agility, obedience, and searching for suspects.
