South Washington County Schools Honors Retiring Employees

Thirty-two retiring employees from the South Washington County School District were honored at a recent ceremony.

In addition to retiring staff members, the District Employee Celebration honored employees who were named “Education All-Stars” and those with 20-40 years of employment with the district.

Jacobus Named Superintendent of South Washington County Schools

The South Washington County School District has selected Dr. Keith Jacobus to be the next superintendent.

The board formally voted for Jacobus after interviews wrapped up on Wednesday.

“Dr, Jacobus clearly has the skills and leadership abilities that inspire people to want to do their best,” School Board Chair Leslee Boyd said at the meeting.

MnDOT Names Recipients of 'Safe Routes to School' Grants

Students traveling to Minnesota schools are about to be a little bit safer thanks to the Safe Routes to School grants. The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced the 92 recipients of $768,000 in federal funding Wednesday.

Minnesota Teacher of the Year to be Announced Sunday

Education Minnesota will be naming the new Minnesota Teacher of the Year this Sunday, May 6, at an annual banquet.

The announcement will come from Katy Smith, the current Minnesota Teacher of the Year. The banquet is at 1 p.m. at the Northland Inn in Brooklyn Park.
