Tom Turkeys Find Sanctuary in Hill-Murray School Parking Lot

It was quite a sight.  a group of turkeys showing up for school this morning at Hill-Murray in Maplewood. Four males were all trying to impress a lone female, said Kari Keller who snapped this picture this morning.  Its probably a great place for the turkeys to be hanging out.  Spring turkey hunting in Minnesota started last week.

Woodbury Police say the owner of a pig that fell from a truck Saturday has come forward. 

The pig was taken to the Animal Humane Society Saturday after he escaped.  The owner claimed the pig Monday.

Fall is here and that means it can be more dangerous for drivers on the roads because of Minnesota's population of more than one million deer.

State officials say the animals are moving around because it's deer breeding season and while crops are being harvested.

Time to Trim Trees: Emerald Ash Borer Hibernates

If you have an ash tree in your yard now is the perfect time to trim it up or take it down.

The emerald ash borer, a beetle that attacks and kills ash trees, is hibernating until spring.

The beetle is inactive between Labor Day and May 1st most years, but since this year has been unusually warm, it was active through September.

Watch Out for Toxic Weed in Washington County

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture is warning residents in Washington County to be on the lookout for a toxic weed known as Grecian foxglove.  All parts of the flower are toxic to humans, livestock, and wildlife.  

Watch Out for Bears in Washington County

Residents in Washington County are being warned to watch out for bears.

The Washington County Sheriff's Office posted a warning on its Facebook page. The office, and several other local residents have received several reports of bears in yards and on the roads.

If you see a bear, keep your distance, but don't panic.
