Record-Setting December Snow! December 23-24 Snow Totals Where You Live

Record-Setting December Snow! December 23-24 Snow Totals Where You Live

If you've been "Dreaming of a White Christmas," you picked the right place to live!  Minnesota, or should I say "MinneSNOWta," is living up to its name this year.  The storm that ended on Christmas Eve morning pushed us to the highest December snow total on record in the Twin Cities!

It's OFFICIAL: The Twin Cities Dry Streak is Over (Barely)

What a streak of dry weather we've had as of late!  It finally ended Saturday, October 23rd when a measly one-hundredth of an inch of rain fell at MSP International Airport.  Prior to that, we had gone 27-straight days without measurable precipitation, though a "trace" was reported on three days: October 1st, 17th, & 18th.

Viewer Laurie Radmacher emailed me the above photo that her boss took in the sky over Minneapolis.

You'll see what appears to be a very thin streak of cirrus (high, thin, wispy) cloud that is colored like a rainbow.  What is it?  Ice crystals within a thin cloud that looks like a contrail likely caught the sun's rays just right to create a rainbow in the sky.  It
